FAST4 Tennis Rules Overview

1. First to four games wins – It doesn’t matter how you get there, just make sure you do before your opponent does!
2. Tiebreaker at 3 games all – At 3 games all a tiebreak is played to 5 points. A deciding point will be played at 4 points all.
3. No ad scoring – If the score reaches deuce, it’s a sudden death point. The receiver chooses which side to take the serve on. This also applies in doubles with the receiving pair deciding who receives the serve. However the pair cannot change positions. In mixed doubles the player of the same gender shall receive.
4. Don’t play lets – Some FAST4 rules actually play lets, but we are not in this tournament since it causes more issues than it’s worth!

FAST4 Tennis Rules Detailed

• Singles matches will be played as the best of 3 short sets (first to 4 games). At 3 games all in a set, a short Tiebreak will be played: first to 5 points, sudden death at 4-4.
• Consolation Singles and Regular Doubles matches will be played as the best of 2 short sets (first to 4 games). At 3 games all in a set, a short Tiebreak will be played: first to 5 points, sudden death at 4-4. If sets are even at the conclusion of the second set, Coman Match tiebreak procedures (first to 10 by 2) will be played to determine the outcome of the Match.
• Set Tiebreaks are played as the first to 5 points, sudden death at 4-4. The player whose turn it is to serve at the commencement of the tiebreak (Player A) will serve 2 points. The opposing player (Player B) will then serve 2 points. Player A (or team mate of Player A in doubles) will then serve 2 points. Player B (or team mate of Player B in doubles) will then serve the following 2 points. If the score reaches 4-4, Player B (or the team mate of Player B in doubles) will serve the final point of the tiebreak with Player A choosing which side the ball will be served. Players will change ends only after the first 4 points have been played.
• No Ad Scoring. All singles and doubles matches will be played using no-advantage scoring, with the receiver choosing the service side when the game reaches deuce.
• Changing ends. When the players change ends at the end of a game and during a tiebreak, play shall be continuous. Players have to be ready to play within 60 seconds of the previous games completion. Players are not permitted to sit down during the change of ends during a set.
• Set Breaks At the end of each set there shall be a Set Break of a maximum of 90 seconds. The Set Break starts from the moment that one point finishes until the first service is struck for the next point. Players are permitted to sit down at the end of a set.
• Finals Matches. All regular draw finals matches (Singles and Doubles) will be played as best 2 of 3 sets, with a set tiebreak (first to 7 by 2) using the Coman tiebreak procedure if play reaches 6 games all. At 6 games all in a 3rd set, Coman Match tiebreak procedures will be played (first to 10 by 2) to determine the outcome of the match.

1UP/1DOWN Format & Rules

• Wheelchair tennis players are mixed with able-bodied tennis players in singles and doubles.
• Pairings determined at event (based on draw size for both wheelchair and able-bodied players)
• 3.5 males/females will pair with B and C level wheelchair players for parity
• 3.0 males will pair with A level wheelchair players
• No-ad scoring will be used as well as Fast-4 rules
• Note that the only rules difference in wheelchair tennis is that the wheelchair player is allowed two bounces prior to hitting the ball. This will be re-emphasized during the warmup period prior to start of match.
